Sale of kharif goods at support price by a large number of farmers

In the current kharif season, the Food Corporation of India and state government agencies have so far procured 5 per cent more than last year. A total of 120.5 lakh tonnes of paddy was procured at a cost of Rs 216 crore, the government statement said. As on October 8 last year, 13.5 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured.
Even amid the Koro epidemic, a large number of farmers are coming to sell their produce.
Rice procurement is in full swing in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Kerala and Gujarat. The highest purchase was in Punjab with 114.5 lakh tonnes.
A total of 13.5 lakh farmers in the country have benefited from the purchase at support prices, the statement added. Apart from paddy, cotton procurement has also started in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Among the corona, kharif production in the country is expected to be record this year. Due to good monsoon across the country this year, kharif and rabi crops are expected to go up as a result.
As on October 7, 4.5 lakh bales of cotton have been procured at a cost of Rs 12.51 crore. Which has benefited more than 3 thousand farmers. Other kharif crops such as oilseeds, copra and pulses are also being procured, the statement said.
In addition to record crops, the current year is expected to see a significant increase in farmers' incomes as a result of higher support prices, which are expected to support the country's economy amid the Corona epidemic.
