EV's bogus website: Crores of fraud in the name of booking-down payments

Technology is being misused for cyber fraud, hacking more than it is being used for good purposes. The Government of India is promoting battery-powered electric vehicles to reduce the huge import bill and pollution of crude oil. In which ile. Even then, the stakeholders are leaving no stone unturned to take advantage of the innocence of Indian consumers.
Hackers are cheating Indian consumers by creating a bogus website for an electric vehicle company. A research has revealed that a phishing campaign is being run through Google Ad on a wide-ranging search agency targeting electric vehicle sellers and consumers in India. It is estimated that about four to eight crore rupees were embezzled from Indians in this fraud. In other words, a lot of money has been cheated.
A security firm, CloudSEK, has revealed that a campaign has been launched to extort Rs 2-4 crore from consumers in the name of booking and down payment of electric vehicles on bogus websites using Google Ad.
How does the hunt?
The people involved in the scam take potential customers to the electric vehicle's phishing site, a bogus website, through Google Ad. Such beneficiaries register the domain name under a false name, such as the real company name, and then provide Google Ad for it. These people also avoid SEO i.e. search engine optimization, which means bogus websites are given more priority than real websites when searching for a company on the internet.
Applause for search engine optimization seems to appear at the top of Google ads for these bogus websites. When customers click on such a Google ad, the ad takes them to a phishing domain, a bogus website. A bogus website looks exactly like the real company of any company. Such bogus websites feature content, including photos and text from the original company. Social media pages have also been created to lure customers to the electric vehicle company's bogus website.
With petrol-diesel prices surpassing Rs 100 per liter, Indians are now slowly moving towards electric vehicles. According to a preliminary estimate, the size of the electric vehicle market in India is estimated at ૪૩૪ 16.08 billion and it is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 6% to reach ૫૩૯ૠ16.12 billion by the end of 203.
