Ahmedabad silver rises by Rs 1,500

The bullion market in Mumbai jewelery market was officially closed on Saturday due to Saturday, but gold and silver prices rose in the closed market, market sources said. World market news was showing a rebound from falling prices. World gold prices, which had fallen from લર 1,201 to ૨ 1,305 an ounce on Friday, rose to ૮ 1,215 an ounce over the weekend.

Imports have risen on the back of rising global markets, which have pushed up prices in the country's jewelery markets today. In the Ahmedabad jewelery market, gold prices stopped falling today, with the rebound rising by Rs 200 per 10 grams to Rs 3,100 from Rs 2.50 and Rs 700 from Rs 4.50.

While Ahmedabad silver price was quoted at Rs 1,200 per kg today. World gold prices rose to 7.5 an ounce from ૫૨ 4.5 an ounce and silver traded higher at ૯૨ 4.5 to ૯૩ 7.5 an ounce over the weekend.

In the US, the US dollar index fell in the global market on weaker-than-expected January job growth figures, prompting talk of a rally in global gold. Other precious metals also bounced in the world market.

Platinum rose from ૯ 1,109 to ૧ 1,110 to લર 115 to ૨૯ 115, while palladium jumped from à«­ 205 to à«® 205 to ૨૩૪૮ 6 to અંતે 7 over the weekend. In the US, meanwhile, the January job growth figure was 5,000. However, the unemployment rate has come down to 6.50%. Although the job growth in December was in the range of minus 3 lakh 5 thousand, in January such job growth was expected to come in plus 1 lakh 5 thousand but in fact such job growth has come in 4 thousand.

However, the unemployment rate in the United States has fallen from 7.50 percent to 7.50 percent. Meanwhile, in the Mumbai Bullion market, gold, excluding GST, was quoted at Rs 305, up from Rs 30, at Rs 8.30, while it was quoted at Rs 30, up from Rs 8, at Rs 8.50. While silver prices were hovering above Rs 4 to Rs 2,000, they were trading at Rs 500 to Rs 700. Meanwhile, prices including GST were three per cent higher than this.

Meanwhile, global crude oil prices were showing a slow decline over the weekend. New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in New York, was quoted at ૫૬ 2.4 a barrel over the weekend and Brent crude last traded at 4.5.
