After kharif, now there is enthusiasm in rabi cultivation among the farmers of the country

With the end of the southwest monsoon in the country in the current year, the soil moisture has remained high, which has made the conditions favorable for farmers to sow rabi crops. Compared to the same period last year, the area under rabi crop so far this year has been 4.5 per cent higher. Kharif planting also saw a record this year.
According to the Agriculture Ministry, the planting of rabi crop has been completed on an area of 4.5 crore hectares till November 30, which is 4.5 per cent more than the same period last year.
In the last five years, the average area under rabi has been 2.50 crore hectares. Thus, it is clear from the statistics that 5% sowing has been completed in the current year.
Wheat is the main rabi crop which has been sown on an area of 2.50 lakh hectares. Apart from this, sowing of chickpeas, the main rabi crop in pulses, has also been completed on an area of 2.50 lakh hectares, which is 20 per cent more than the same period last year.
The area under rye, which is the main ravi oilseed, has also increased by 2.50 per cent to 2.50 lakh hectares. Kharif crop cultivation remained high even during the Corona period and the crop is expected to remain record high due to good monsoon, while farmers are also looking forward to rabi crop.
The southwest monsoon of 2020 has been the best in the last few years, sources in the agriculture ministry said.
