72 per cent people say inflation has become uncontrollable since Narendra Modi became PM: Survey

New Delhi, 31 January 2021 Sunday

About 72 per cent people believe that inflation has become uncontrollable since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister. This has come out in the survey on budget. The number of people talking about rising inflation during PM Modi's tenure is the highest ever. Compared to 72.1 per cent this time, only 17.1 per cent people in 2015 said that inflation has increased during PM Modi's tenure.

In 2020, only 10.8 per cent of respondents said prices had come down, while 12.8 per cent said nothing had changed. The government's performance on the economic front has been the worst since 2014, with 46.4 per cent saying Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's performance. On the front, it was disappointing, with only 31.7 per cent saying the performance was good.

This is the worst performance of any government since Manmohan Singh became the Prime Minister in 2010. In the past year, 38.2 per cent said inflation had had the opposite effect, while 34.3 per cent said it had had a slight effect. About half said the standard of living has deteriorated in the past year. 48.4 per cent said the standard of living of the common man has deteriorated in the last one year, 28.8 per cent said it has improved and 21.3 per cent said it is the same as before.

However, people seem optimistic for the next time. 37.4 per cent of those surveyed believe that the standard of living of the common man will improve in the next one year. However, 25.8 percent still think their standard of living will get worse. While 21.7 per cent say it will remain the same.

65.8 per cent of those surveyed said spending had risen sharply over the past year, while 30 per cent said it had risen sharply but not out of control.
