30 years of economic transformation Nirmala Sitharaman will bring new
Ahmedabad. 22 January 2021, Friday
The economic face of India has been changing since Manmohan Singh unleashed the chip of economic transformation 70 years ago today. India's economic situation was very problematic then. The duo of Prime Minister Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh became firm and blew the wind of change. The budget was unimaginable 20 years ago. A well-known economist said that it makes sense to dance with a budget in mind.
Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to do something new as she has said that a budget that no one could have imagined will be seen on February 1. Manmohan Singh was holding his cards to his chest and all of a sudden people were informed on the day of the budget. But Nirmala Sitaram has informed the people in advance and planted peas, which has increased the enthusiasm of the people.
There is not much difference between the economic problems of 20 years ago and today. The source of income of the government is declining. Every step to increase income can lead to hemorrhoids. Yet there is a lot of speculation about what the finance minister wants to do.
Although there is no room for radical change as the finance minister says the government's hands are tied due to the huge deficit, the government can take steps for relief as well as more subsidies.
Three assembly elections are important for the government
Any election in India is being fought strategically. The battle for three assemblies in 2021 is one in which the Modi government is not facing the Congress but directly with the regional parties. W. In all the three states of Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the BJP is going to have a direct battle with the regional parties. One of these three states is wanted by the BJP. In West Bengal, an election war is already being witnessed.
In the budget, the government can take election-oriented measures to entice the voters of the war-torn states. Opposition parties are also eyeing how the government wants to please the voters. The misfortune of the government is that it cannot provide any relief in the budget to the states engaged in elections. If he does so, his lust for power will come to the notice of the people.
The government seems to have over-relied on Sitharaman
Ever since the economy began to deteriorate, talk of replacing Finance Minister Sitharaman with Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has been on the political stage. But that did not change. Even when the BJP formed a government with the Janata Dal (U) in Bihar's election battle, there was talk of taking Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi to the Center and making him Finance Minister.
Sushil Modi was taken to the Rajya Sabha but no steps were taken to change the cabinet. Says the Prime Minister does not want to put any new controversy in the hands of the opposition by removing a woman.
