Reliance Industry made history, becoming the country's first nine million crore company

Reliance Industries has become the first company in the country with a capital of Rs 9 lakh crore. Shares of the company rose 1.7% to Rs 9.01 lakh crore on Friday.

Last year, Reliance became the highest-grossing company, leaving the state-run Indian Oil Corporation behind. Spread across various sectors like petroleum to retail and telecom, Reliance Industries has a total turnover of Rs 6.23 lakh crore in FY 2018-19. So IOAC has a consolidated turnover of Rs 6.17 lakh crore in the financial year ended March 31, 2019.

RIL is also the largest profit-making company in the country, earning twice as much profit from IOC.

The market cap of the company has grown sharply following the rise in Reliance stock. Now, Reliance's market cap for 6 government companies has gone well. SBI has a market cap of 2.4 lakh crore. ONGC has 1.8 lakh crore, IOC 1.4 lakh crore, NTPC 1.2 lakh crore, 1 lakh crore power grid and 1.1 lakh crore BPCL. The market cap of all these government companies together is lower than that of Reliance Industry.
