Onion and potato prices have not increased this year alone. The government said in the Lok Sabha that the prices of three items of the essential food items have risen this year.

Despite several attempts by the government to curb the onion prices, onion prices remain high to this day.

Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said in the Lok Sabha that prices of onion items have risen from the essential food items in the wake of onion prices this year. Onion prices have increased four times since the beginning of this year.

The monthly average price of food items was presented in Parliament by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs today. Looking at these data, it is noteworthy that not only onions and potatoes, but also prices of tuwar, acad and mung beans have increased significantly.

Informing the Lok Sabha, the Consumer Affairs Minister said that the gap between demand and supply has increased due to rising prices. In addition, bad weather, increased transportation costs, lack of storage and black market also led to the increase in prices of various people.
