New three wheelers and new two wheelers will see higher power vehicles
New delhi date. 11 February 2020, Tuesday
According to a report by Crisil Research, an estimated three to four percent of new three-wheelers and new two-wheelers sold in the country will be powered by 3 by 5 percent.
The attraction for electric vehicles in the four-wheelers segment is expected to remain low. Only five percent of new vehicles for four wheelers will see electric vehicles, the report noted.
Development factors such as battery costs, government subsidies and charging infrastructure have been considered in this study. Apart from this, the cost of getting the vehicle has also been taken into account by segmenting analysis and comparison of existing ICE vehicles to operating electric vehicles.
The cost factor works behind the rapid adoption of two and three wheelers. Electric scooters are cheaper to operate than ICE scooters. Similarly, e-autos are also cheaper to buy and operate than ICE autos, the report noted.
In addition, supply is an important factor for the eclipse. The top five two-wheeler manufacturers in the country have the capacity to increase the production capacity of their two-wheeler-type two-wheelers, which is 1 lakh units in the current fiscal year, which can be increased to 2 lakh by the fiscal year.
Even in the three-wheelers, current manufacturers are turning to e-autos at a fast pace. On the other hand, sales of electric cars for personal consumption are expected to remain sluggish due to lack of incentives to increase demand. The costs behind buying and owning this car are high.
The report also noted an increase in the sale of electric-powered buses due to subsidies provided by the state transport enterprises in the commercial vehicle sector. However poor charging infrastructure can be challenging for electric vehicles.
