Sensex closes at 811 points, closing at end of day

The stock market has seen turmoil these days. With the decline, the BSE's Sensex rose 500 points in an hour after the market opened. The Sensex closed down 810.98 points, or 30,579.09, while the Nifty closed down 230.70 points at 8,966.70 points. The BSE closed down 2.58% and the Nifty down 2.51%. The biggest upswing was in Yes Bank's stock.

The Sensex closed 2,713.41 points lower at 31,390.07 points on Monday. Likewise, the National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed at 9,197.40 points, down 757.80 points. Other Asian markets closed down Shanghai 3.40%, Hong Kong 4.03%, Seoul 3.19% and Tokyo 2.46%. Europe's major markets also saw the opening trade decline by up to 8%.

The Asian market fell sharply after China's factory production and retail sales figures were weak. This has raised suspicion that the Corona virus could cause economic slowdown.
