Effect of work from home: 38% decline in demand for office space in the country

AHMEDABAD: Work from home in Corona remains the same which has had a direct impact on the office market space. The first six months of the year have passed in the second wave of the Corona epidemic where office leasing has come down to a three-year low.

According to a recent report by Seville India, between January and June this year, only 1.5 lakh square feet were leased in India's six largest cities, down 3 per cent from last year. In terms of supply, it has risen by 3 per cent to 1.50 lakh square feet.

After the most leasing IT companies, there are companies in the main segment. About 60 per cent of the leasing comes from Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Bangalore. With 3 million square feet, Bangalore tops the list. As a result, Indian corporate and multinational companies have also vacated about 4 million square feet of commercial office space in the first six months of 2020.

Most of the office space has been vacated in Bangalore. Corporate offices were opening very fast in Bangalore. Bangalore is at the forefront of corporate office leasing and there was a severe shortage of space before the Coronation period due to which the rent was also very high. But Corona has ruined all conditions
