Rupee rises against dollar

MUMBAI: The rupee has strengthened overall against the dollar in the currency market, setting a new record high, market sources said. The dollar opened at Rs 4.05 this morning and closed at Rs 4.15, a high of Rs 4.15 and a low of Rs 4.00. The dollar had lost 3 paise overall today.

In the global market, the dollar index, which was 2.3, was at a low of 6.15 and a high of 6.5 to 7.5. The dollar index was up 0.08 per cent today.

The British pound opened at Rs. The pound rose 3 paise today. The euro opened at Rs 4.5 today with a low of Rs 4.51 and closed at Rs 4.5 with a low of Rs 4.81 and a high of Rs 4.31.

The euro closed 3 paise higher against the rupee today. The Japanese yen was down 0.05 per cent against the rupee today. At the end of the day, the Chinese currency closed 0.07 per cent higher against the rupee.
