Mumbai, Ta. 08 November 2019, Friday

The country's domestic production in the 3-4 season, starting on October 1st, is 5K. The estimate was announced by the Cotton Association of India to produce one lakh bales of gram. This figure is 9.5 lakh bales more than last year. However, these are preliminary estimates, the association said. In the last season, the production was Rs. 3 lakhs.

Compared to last season, production estimates have been kept high due to the increase in acreage in the current season. Not only this year's monsoon but the association's cotton crop is expected to remain high this year.

However, in some areas of the country, there are also reports of loss of crops due to deficient rainfall and flooding. Nonetheless, production is growing at a growth rate of 5.5%.

The Association is projected to see a total supply of 2 lakh bales of rupees by the end of the season, which is on September 1. It also includes 1.5 lakh bales of opening stocks. The current season is expected to import 1 lakh bales.

In the current season, domestic consumption has been estimated at 8 lakh bales while the association has given estimates for export of 1 lakh bales.
