Rupee down to the lowest level against the dollar

The rupee lost 70 paise to close at $ 76.34 per dollar on Wednesday amid rising cases of corona virus in the country and stock market conditions. There is speculation that the government could go beyond the 14-day lockdown limit of 14 April.

Forex dealers said the rise in Brent crude oil prices and strengthening the US dollar index had impacted the rupee's expectations. Traders said investors' perceptions of the corona virus's impact on the world economy have weakened.

Rupee 75.8 in the foreign exchange market. Opened at the dollar, and then dropped. At the end, the rupee closed 70 paise at 76.34 per dollar. The rupee had closed at 75.64 per dollar on Tuesday. Due to the Corona virus, the Reserve Bank reduced trading hours in foreign currencies, government bonds and call money markets from 7am to 2pm till April 7-17.
