In the current crop year, estimates of 354.50 lakh bales of crop were maintained

The Cotton Association of India (CAI) has maintained the estimated crop yield of 1.5 lakh bales in the current crop year. One packet means 3 kg. The current season, which starts on October 1, is projected to supply 8.5 lakh bales by March 2, with a revenue of 8 lakh bales by March 8, while importing 8 lakh bales and opening of 1 lakh bales at the beginning of the season.
From October to March, CAI estimates that a total of 3 lakh bales have been consumed. Besides, the export figure is expected to be around 3 lakh bales this time. At the end of March 1, there were stocks of 1.5 lakh bales, of which 1 lakh bales were lying at the mills and the remaining 1.5 lakh bales are estimated to fall to CCI and others.
The total cotton supply in the country is expected to be around 8 lakh bales by the end of the current crop year. This includes the current season's crop of 2.5 lakh bales, imports of 5 lakh bales and opening stock of 1 lakh bales.
Cotton smuggling has been halted in major producing states of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra due to coronavirus, market sources said. The domestic consumption of cotton is estimated to be around 1 lakh bales in the current season. The State Governments are trying to take up the harvesting of new crop of Ravi crop so that the crop near the farmers can be prevented from being wasted.
