A seven-day lockdown implemented to control the Corona virus in the country has entered its final stages. Talking about Mumbai, the economic capital of the country, the Vashi Vegetable Agricultural Market has been closed. Similarly, the Pune's Gultekadi market has also been closed.
Talking of Ahmedabad, the main vegetable market at Jamalpur has been closed and shifted to Jaitalpur. On the other hand, the vegetable market and fruit market at Kalupur have been closed. In addition, Naroda's fruit market has also been closed.
According to sources familiar with the situation, a huge gap in the demand supply sector was triggered by the ban on private transport, which has begun tight enforcement of lockdown across the country. Apart from this, the revenue of vegetable milk and other commodities in the cities from the rural areas where private transport is being hampered has also declined drastically. In addition, goods from shops in the downtown or major markets in the urban areas have also been halted. Due to which, the necessity of life necessities in the retail market has started to decline. This situation has started to arise not only in Gujarat-Maharashtra but also throughout the country.
Due to this adverse situation, the average income of potatoes in vegetables has been reduced by 5%, onion revenue by 3% and tomatoes by 5%. In terms of fruit, apple income has dropped by an average of 5%, grapes and bananas by about 5%. In terms of grain, wheat revenue has been reduced by an average of 1 to 3 percent and rice income has decreased by about 5 percent.
According to knowledgeable market circles, harvesting of ravi crops has begun in different areas of the country. In the coming days, the large income of other crops including wheat, chickpeas will start but the lockdown has also halted transportation along with the closure of private transport, while on the other hand adverse conditions have arisen due to lack of labor available for loading / unloading of various goods.
It should be noted here that the mathematics of crop growth has been introduced at all levels of monsoon this year. But, in the present adverse situation, it is very important to bring the crop from the field to the market. Under these circumstances, farmers' associations and agricultural societies of different states have been presented to the state government to give relief to the implementation of lockdown for the transport of agricultural crops.
Meanwhile, farmers in Madhya Pradesh expressed concern over the drop in prices of various commodities. According to farmers in Madhya Pradesh, the prices of chickpeas and mustard in Madhya Pradesh were going down 5 to 5 percent lower than the support price before the markets closed due to lockdown. Thus, with the arrival of new crops, the prices of those commodities are also decreasing as the market is getting bigger. Therefore, farmers in Madhya Pradesh have been worried over this issue.
In view of this situation, the Consortium of Indian Farmers' Association has been introduced to give concessions in lockdown in view of this harvest season. In addition, grocery chains, e-commerce companies and merchants have been introduced to allow them to buy directly from the farm in view of the current situation.
