The Sensex bounced 1328 points to 55858 on the back of huge short covering
(Gujarat News Correspondent) MUMBAI: After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a swift Russian army captured the Ukrainian city-capitals one after the other and reached the Ukrainian capital in less than 30 hours. Funds also had short covering in the stock markets. Funds that received the signal ahead of the report that Russia is ready to end the war if the Ukrainian government accepts surrender today include stocks in special banking-finance, metal-mining, IT-software services, consumer durables, power-capital goods, automobiles, automobiles. With reduced cover the buying opportunity was faster. With realty, oil-gas and FMCG stocks gaining value, the Sensex jumped 17.61 points to close at 4.50 and the Nifty spot jumped 210.5 points to close at 19.50. International crude oil prices, which had jumped to ન્ટ 105 a barrel yesterday, fell to close at ૩૫ 4.5 a barrel today and close to ય 4.50 a barrel on Nymex crude. Bankex jumps 12 points
The BSE Bankex Index closed 141.18 points higher at 127.18 today, with funds covering a large shortfall today after a big gap in banking and finance stocks. Bank of Baroda rose by Rs 2.50 to Rs 107.5, IndusInd Bank jumped by Rs 21.10 to Rs 2.50, Bandhan Bank rose by Rs 15 to Rs 205.10, AU Small Finance Bank rose by Rs 4.5. 14.10, Axis Bank increased by Rs. 2.50 to Rs. 2.15, Kotak Mahindra Bank increased by Rs. 2.5 to Rs. HDFC Bank was up Rs 5.05 at Rs 19.5 and State Bank of India was up Rs 10.50 at Rs 4.5.
Consumer durables jumped 17 points
The BSE Consumer Durables Index jumped 19.11 points to close at 8.30 as shares of consumer durables companies also fell sharply today with short covering of funds. Dixon Technology jumped Rs 2.50 to Rs 5, Vaibhav Global jumped Rs 4.5 to Rs 205.15, Aditya Birla Fashion jumped Rs 15.50 to Rs 2.50, Voltas jumped Rs 2.50 to Rs. 131.5, Blue Star jumped Rs. 2.50 to Rs. 2.4 to Rs.
Metal Index jumps 1100 points
The value-buying BSE Metal Index jumped 1,100.5 points to close at 1,307.9, with short covering of funds even in metal-mining stocks amid signs that the Ukraine-Russia war may end sooner than expected. Coal India rose by Rs 19.50 to Rs 19.5, Jindal Steel by Rs 4.5 to Rs 2.50, Sail by Rs 4.5 to Rs 31.50, APL Apollo by Rs 4.5 to Rs .3.5, Vedanta increased by Rs. 2.50 to Rs. 2.50, Tata Steel increased by Rs. 20.5 to Rs. 117.50, JSW Steel increased by Rs. Shares of Hindustan Zinc rose by Rs 2.50 to Rs 121.15, Hindustan Zinc by Rs 13.5 to Rs 310.50 and Hindalco by Rs 19.15 to Rs 4.50.
The realty index rose 12 points
The BSE Realty Index rose 19.5 points to close at 9.11 as realty stocks rebounded sharply with short covering. Macrotech Developers increased by Rs.151.5 to Rs.117.50, Suntech Realty increased by Rs.21.50 to Rs.2.50, DLF increased by Rs3.15 to Rs4.5, Shobha Developers increased by Rs2.50 to Rs. 2.50, Oberoi Realty rose by Rs. 2.50 to Rs.
Extensive valuation of funds in small, mid cap stocks
Market breadth turned positive again as the Sensex, Nifty-based funds, players' small, mid-cap, cash stocks reduced their chances of buying today in a sharp rebound today, in anticipation of a quick end to the Ukraine-Russia war. Out of the total 6 scrips-shares traded on the BSE, the number of gainers today was 7 and the number of decliners was 31. Only 7 stocks had a bullish upper circuit. Only 14 stocks had a bearish lower circuit.
The wealth of investors increased
Index-based Sensex, Nifty rebounded, small, mid-cap stocks declined in some stocks due to widespread valuing, the accumulated market capitalization of investors listed on the BSE rose by Rs 2.5 lakh crore in one day to Rs 4.5 lakh crore today. .
Sale of FPI / FII shares worth Rs. 31 crore
FIIs - Foreign institutional investors, foreign portfolio investors - FPIs had a net sale of Rs 70.50 crore in cash today-Friday. A total of Rs 10,191.5 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs 20.8 crore, while DII-domestic institutional investors made a net purchase of Rs 216.5 crore in cash today. A total of Rs 4.06 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs 2.31 crore.
