SEBI's bow for the first time in the hands of a woman, Madhabi Puri Butch Chairperson
MUMBAI: Madhabi Puri Butch, the first month chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has been appointed as the new head of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He will replace current chairman Ajay Tyagi, whose term ends on February 8.
Former SEBI full-time Madhabi Puri Butch was earlier nominated to head the new technology committee formed by SEBI.
Butch is not only the first woman full time member of SEBI but also the first person from the private sector to take the helm of SEBI. She started her career with ICICI Bank and was the MD and CEO of ICICI Securities from February 2009 to May 2011.
He moved to Singapore in 2011 to join Greater Pacific Capital LLP. Until October 2021, he was the full time director of SEBI.
