Assam's 'Golden Pearl' is the country's most expensive tea, priced at Rs. 99,999
Dibrugarh: Indian tea is acclaimed all over the world. Tea gardens in Assam and the surrounding states are especially famous in South India. This special tea from Assam has become the most expensive tea in the country.
During the tea auction in Dibrugarh district of Assam, a special tea was sold at Rs. A new record has been set for selling at Rs 4.5. This is by far the highest price of any tea in the country.
Officials said this is the second time in two months that a particular state's tea has cost Rs. The auction has been held at a price of Rs 2.5 per kg.
This special tea is called 'Golden Pearl', which is owned by AFT Techno Trade. On Monday, Assam Tree Traders bought the tea from him at Rs 4.5 per kg. Priyanju Dutta, secretary, Guwahati Tea Action Center, said Assam Tea Traders had bought one kg of special tea for Rs 4.5.
Dipanjol Deka, secretary of the Assam unit of the Tea Association of India, said the handmade tea, called "Golden Pearl", was a delicate tea variety produced at Nahorchukbari in Lahore near Dibrugarh Airport. This is a rare type of tea, which was introduced on the day of auction in cell number 4 and lot number 2001.
It may be mentioned here that even last year, the price of Assam's special tea called 'Manohari Gold Tea' was quoted at Rs 4.5 per kg. This tea is produced by Manohari Tea Estate, hence the name Manohari Gold. It was purchased by Saurabh Tea Traders on 18 December 2021 at a tea auction in Guwahati. Since then, it has become the most expensive tea sold in the country. However, now 'Golden Pearl' tea has become the most expensive tea in the country.
Speaking of other expensive teas in the country, the 'Golden Needle' made by Doni Polo Tea Estate in Arunachal Pradesh and the 'Golden Butterfly' from Assam's Decom Tea Garden were sold at different auctions in August 2021 at a price of Rs 5,000 per kg.
