The addition of 68 lakh folios to mutual funds in the year 2019

Mutual funds have added 1 lakh folios in the year 2009, resulting in the total number of folios increasing to 1.8 million at the end of the year. The increase in the number of folios means investors are beginning to better understand the risks associated with such schemes.

However, the number of folios has decreased in the first three years compared to the next three years. Sources at market fund houses said that less accounts were opened in debt-oriented schemes.

The number given to the individual investor's account is known as a folio. An investor is likely to have more than one such account.

According to the available data, there were 8.5 million investor accounts in the year, 8 crore in 5, 5 lakh in 2 and 5 lakh folios in 5.

At the end of December 1, the number of folios in the Equity and Equity Linked Savings Scheme increased by 1.8 lakh to 8 million. This was an increase of 1.8 crore during the next six years.

In the last year, the number of folio of debt oriented scheme was reduced from 1 lakh to 1 lakh.

Asset under management (AUM) of the fund industry increased by 5% (Rs 1.8 lakh crore) at the end of December. Reached 1.8 lakh crore. Which was about 8 lakh crore on December 1.

MUMBAI: Brokerage firms and fintech companies have objected to market regulator SEBI's discussion paper considering all stock trading orders issued through Application Programming Interface (API) as separate trading, saying it could adversely affect the growth of such trading from India. Algo trading is considered to be an automatic buying-selling system based on algorithms. SEBI has recently said in a discussion paper that it would create a framework for regulating Algo trading by retail investors.
