Export inquiries have increased by 20% during the last fortnight

Export inquiries from the US, Australia and Japan to the country's exporters have seen a 20 per cent increase over the past fortnight as various businesses, employment and industries have been booming since the lockdown began in early June.
According to export sources, business deals with Indian exporters are being discussed by importers from countries like the US, Australia and Japan. In particular, there has been a significant increase in inquiries for the export of handicrafts, jewelery and shoes.
Export inquiries into cotton and yarn in the textile sector have increased but old orders that were canceled due to falling prices are now being negotiated at a new price. Speaking of leather exports, the US and the EU are reactivating their orders.
It may be mentioned here that due to cancellation of orders in April, India's merchandise exports fell sharply by 20 per cent year-on-year to ૧૦ 10.7 billion. Exports are also likely to fall by 20-2 per cent in May.
Informed sources added that export inquiries in the gems jewelery sector have increased. But industries do not have enough artisans, on the other hand labor costs are also high and difficulties have increased due to the rules of social discrimination. Apart from this, other industries are also carrying out normal manufacturing operations due to the epidemic as well as the absence of workers and are feeling dilemma about fulfilling orders.
