(Gujarat News Correspondent) MUMBAI: With Tata Sons recently winning the bid to acquire Air India in a bid to play a bigger role in the country's economic and industrial development, the prestigious Tata Group in Corporate India today raised funds amid speculations of massive growth in the electric vehicle sector by Tata Motors. Led by the Sensex, the Nifty hit a new historic high. With the positive impact of positive development in Tata Group companies including Tata Motors, Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Titan Company, industrial and economic activities are gaining momentum in the country. The resulting funds rallied with short covering in IT stocks. Along with this, automobiles, power-capital goods, metal-mining, consumer durables, banking-finance stocks rose, the Sensex touched 31,000 and the Nifty moved closer to 1,200. At the end of the day, the Sensex jumped 3.6 points to 206.05 and the Nifty spot jumped 13.60 points to a new all-time high of 19121.8. The US dollar had lost 19 paise to Rs 2.7 against the rupee. International crude oil prices softened today, with Brent crude falling 5 cents to ૬૮ 4.5 a barrel and Nymex crude falling 3 cents to close at. 30.01.
Sensex marches to 31,000: 203 make new history
Trading started today at the expected strength. The Sensex opened higher at 20,412.31 against the previous close of 309.31. And Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma, Ultratech Cement, Power Grid Corp, Larsen & Toubro, NTPC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, HDFC Ltd. and IndusInd Bank. It jumped 4.3 points to close at a new record high of 206.05.
Nifty jumped to the level of 15000, 1918 made a new history and finally jumped by 120 points to a new record high of 1917.
NSE's Nifty spot opened at 1,407.8 against the previous close of 171.8, with Tata Motors, Tata Consumer and Tata Group stocks surging sharply from the outset.
