The dollar rebounded to Rs 75 against the rupee

(Gujarat News Office) MUMBAI: The dollar rebounded against the rupee in early trade today, hitting a new low of Rs 5. After opening at Rs 6.5 this morning, the dollar touched a low of Rs 4.5 and a high of Rs 2.11.

The dollar had gained 12 paise today and the rupee had weakened. Despite the rise in the stock market index today, the rupee remained under pressure in the currency market, market sources said. The dollar was seen buying by importers, with world markets also witnessing a rise in the dollar index against various major currencies today.

The global dollar index, which had a low of 7.5, rose by about 0.15 per cent today, from a low of 7.5 and a high of 7.5 to 7.5. However, as the dollar rose against the rupee in the domestic currency market today, the British pound depreciated by Rs 105.5 to close at Rs 105.15 and closed at Rs 105.5.

The pound rose last week amid the possibility of an interest rate hike in Britain. But today the boom broke. However, the European currency, the euro, was up 11 paise against the rupee today, hovering around Rs 2.50 to Rs 4.21 in the evening.

The issue of the Northern Islands has sparked differences between Europe and Britain, leading to reports that Europe has given Britain the glimmer of a post-Brexit agreement.

This has had an impact on the pound and euro prices in the currency market today, market sources said. Meanwhile, the Japanese currency, the yen, rose 0.15 per cent against the rupee in Mumbai today, while the Chinese currency was trading 0.7 per cent higher against the rupee this evening.
