The number of NSE active users fell to 3.12 crore in April for the 10th consecutive month

- 15 lakh accounts decreased in April

- In the last 10 months, the Indian stock market has not performed very well and is now moving away from the market

Ahmedabad: In April, the number of active users of the country's largest national stock exchange has decreased to 3.12 crore. In March, the number of active users was 3.27 crore. Active users are those account holders who have done at least one transaction in the last one year. According to the report of brokerage firm Motilal Oswal, the number of active users of NSE has decreased for the 10th consecutive month in April. However, the decline of 15 lakh accounts in April is much higher than the decline of 9 lakh accounts in March.

Since July 2022, the number of active users is continuously decreasing. The bumper new investors registered in the stock market during the corona period are not performing very well in the Indian stock market in the last 10 months and are now moving away from the market. The recent market volatility affects new investors entering the market with less capital.

In the ups and downs of the market in the previous 10 months to March 2023, the shares of most of the companies are trading in the previous range and the new investments of small investors in the shares of these companies are driving away the new investors and this has affected the active client base of the market. In FY2022-23, the Sensex returned 0.7 percent, while the Nifty returned 0.6 percent. The BSE Mid and Smallcap indices were down 0.18 percent and 4.46 percent respectively. Foreign institutional investors sold shares worth $6.64 billion in the Indian market last year and withdrew investment.

Apart from this, the environment for options sellers in recent months has been very challenging for traders among new investors. Investors have also been affected by market volatility and lopsided moves and the new margin regulation requiring a minimum 50 percent cash component under the new regulation.
