The Covid-19 resulted in a flurry of grocery e-commerce players

Mumbai, May 14, 2020, Thursday

The impact of the coronavirus on offline purchases in the country has resulted in a flurry of grocery e-commerce players seeking customers in recent days. Consumers are also finding it difficult to get their daily necessities due to the closure of retail outlets due to Corona and restrictions on movement.

With this problem in mind, online sales of goods, especially groceries, are on the rise. Despite the burden on some well-known e-commerce players, new players are currently scrambling to try their luck, an analyst said.

New e-commerce players who have been entering the market for the last one-and-a-half months are also achieving significant growth in business.

The founder of an e-commerce grocery company in two cities of the country said that at present, its business is growing by 30 per cent weekly. These companies are currently coming to the surface taking advantage of the incentives being given to startups in the country. They are taking advantage of the opportunities available.

While e-commerce companies already operating in various cities of the country are facing shortage of staff for delivery, new e-commerce companies are attracting customers by providing fast delivery to certain areas.

The daily order of e-commerce players already in operation has increased significantly due to the lockdown. It remains to be seen how long this demand will last as consumer demand increases.

Analysts also expect work-from-home culture to benefit e-commerce grocery players.
