India's economy to shrink by 10.3 per cent this year: IMF

New Delhi, 13 October 2020 Tuesday

The current financial year is not good for the Indian economy. However, in the year 2021, everything is expected to be fine. These things have come out in the new forecast of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Last week, the World Bank said India's GDP would shrink by 9.6 per cent this fiscal. In addition, other major rating agencies, including Moody's, are predicting a decline in GDP.

According to the IMF, the Indian economy, which has been badly affected by the Corona virus, is expected to shrink by 10.3 per cent this year, although the IMF has said that the Indian economy is likely to grow by 8.8 per cent in 2021.

It is expected to grow at a faster pace than China, which is projected to grow by 8.2 per cent in 2021, according to the IMF.

The IMF said in a recent report that the improvement in GDP growth forecasts was a big one for India, noting that India's economic growth rate was 4.2 per cent in the current financial year.

According to the IMF report, the world economy is expected to shrink by 4.4 per cent in the current financial year, with a strong growth rate of 5.2 per cent in 2021.

The IMF report says that by 2020, China will be the only country in the world leading economy with a growth rate of 1.9 percent.
