Sensex up 255 points to 39982

Funds led by banking stocks rallied again over the weekend in Indian stock markets over the weekend, despite a softening in markets in countries including the US and Europe amid a resurgence of corona virus cases and re-lockdown measures in European countries. With the country facing a serious economic crisis and the central government being forced to borrow heavily from the Reserve Bank of India, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced open market operations of Rs 10,000 crore in State Development Loans (SDLs) on October 24, 2020. And amid the government's decision to borrow Rs 1.1 lakh crore from states for GST consolidation shortfalls, funds today showed a boom in deceptive short covering. Along with banking-finance stocks, IT, pharma, capital goods-power, consumer durables, metal-mining, oil-gas stocks, the Sensex rose 4.5 points to 7.8 and the Nifty spot rose by 10.10 points to close at 114.5. The US dollar had lost four paise to Rs 4.5 against the rupee today. International crude oil prices softened modestly today, with Brent crude falling 3 cents to ૬૭ 2.8 and Nymex crude falling 3 cents to close at ૫૩ 20.8.

Sensex jumps 5 points intra-day to close at 30,000

Trading started bullish today. The Sensex opened at 7.21 against the previous close of 7.91 and from the outset in banking-finance stocks including HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Ltd, Bajaj Finswani Among metal stocks and IT stocks, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, TCS as well as Ultratech Cement, Titan, ONGC, NTPC, Bajaj Auto, among others, rose at one point to 2012.31. Nifty October futures rise from 11.5 to 117: Bank Nifty futures rise from 9,110 to 8,50

The Bank Nifty futures opened at 8,401.50 against 2,110.50, fell to 9,15 and went up to 5,415, ending at 8,70. The Nifty 11,600 call opened at 9.10 against 31.3, fell to 8.30 and went up to 115, ending at 8. The Nifty 11,800 put opened at 101.60 against 19.50, fell to 16 at 9.30 and ended at 5.5.

Metal-mining stocks rise: Tata Steel up Rs 30 to Rs 5 JSW Steel, Jindal Steel, Hindalco up

A total of Rs 303.04 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs 206.5 crore. On the other hand, DIIs-domestic institutional investors today saw a net sale of Rs 4.31 crore in cash. A total of Rs 2.50 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs 4.5 crore.
