Sensex jumped 346 points to 57960
MUMBAI: Today-Wednesday, the last day for the cash segment in the stock markets for FY 2022-23 and at the end of the March trend in futures and options, foreign funds along with local funds saw extensive buying in many stocks with short covering in stocks. On the international front, amidst the report of the demerger of Alibaba Inc.'s 32 billion dollar business in China, there was a rapid improvement in the Asian markets today, on the back of the recovery in the futures in the European markets and the futures in the American markets, in anticipation of a recovery in the technology sector and the banking turmoil in America, Europe. Funds led by gains in IT-software services, technology stocks, banking-finance, automobile stocks with heavy buying with short covering and attractiveness in capital goods, metal-mining, consumer durables, healthcare stocks. The points were closed at 17080.70. Funds in small, mid cap stocks, high net worth investors bought less. Today - Thursday, March 30, stock markets will be closed on the occasion of Ram Navami.

IT-software services, technology stocks today were valued by funds with short covering on the back of a report on the demerger of Alibaba Inc.'s business in China and a recovery in futures in US markets. In IT stocks, Cybertech rose by Rs.10.20 to Rs.96.50, D-Link India rose by Rs.16.60 to Rs.225.35, Nelco rose by Rs.25.10 to Rs.515, Ratgain Travel rose by Rs.12.45 Rs.327.65, HCL Technology rose by Rs.28.35 to Rs.1068.75, Emphasys rose by Rs.45.15 to Rs.1714.25, Imudra rose by Rs.5.70 to Rs.218, Mastec rose by Rs.32.50 Up to Rs.1521, Persistent up by Rs.95.90 to Rs.4520.15, Coforge up by Rs.76.20 to Rs.3670.70, L&T Technology up by Rs.52.65 to Rs.3363.55, LTI Mindtree by Rs. 67.40 up to Rs.4625.10, Tech Mahindra rose by Rs.12.80 to Rs.1083.05. The BSE IT index rose 238.87 points to close at 27778.80.

Automobile stocks were also valued lower today by funds with short covering. TVS Motor rose by Rs.45.25 to Rs.1079.15, Eicher Motors by Rs.81 to Rs.2933.15, Uno Minda by Rs.12.65 to Rs.465.55, Bosch by Rs.469.25 to Rs.18 ,995.40, Bajaj Auto rose by Rs.93.85 to Rs.3886, Motherson Sumi by Rs.1.53 to Rs.64.41, Hero Motocorp by Rs.54.05 to Rs.2303.35, Tata Motors by Rs.7 .45 increased to Rs.409.15, Cummins India increased by Rs.28.75 to Rs.1640.85, Mahindra & Mahindra increased by Rs.18.90 to Rs.1147, Tube Investment increased by Rs.38.10 to Rs.2576. The BSE Auto Index rose 479.04 points to close at 27974.38.
Short covering in banking stocks: AU Small, Federal Bank, BOB, IndusInd, State Bank, IOB rose
The BSE Bankex index rose by 387.91 points to close at 45252.62 due to short covering in banking-finance stocks today. AU Small Finance Bank rose by Rs 20.40 to Rs 583.85, Federal Bank by Rs 3.45 to Rs 129.20, Bank of Baroda by Rs 3.75 to Rs 164.50, IndusInd Bank by Zee Shares rose by Rs 19.95 to Rs 1,055.95, State Bank of India rose by Rs 8.25 to Rs 516.35, Kotak Mahindra Bank rose by Rs 22.40 to Rs 1,720.85 on the report of debt settlement. Axis Bank increased by Rs.9.65 to Rs.843, HDFC Bank increased by Rs.8.25 to Rs.1588.40. Along with this, UCO Bank increased by Rs.2.01 to Rs.24.55, Oswal Greentech increased by Rs.1.37 to Rs.19.56, Union Bank increased by Rs.4.63 to Rs.66.23, IIFL Finance increased by Rs.32. 60 increased to Rs.468.45, IOB increased by Rs.1.55 to Rs.22.72, Bank of India increased by Rs.5.22 to Rs.76.70, Central Bank of India increased by Rs.1.58 to Rs.24. 21, Hudko increased by Rs.2.61 to Rs.43.37.

Capital goods stocks were also buying broadly today. Suzlon Ng rose 87 paisa to Rs 7.95, Praj Industries rose by Rs 23.75 to Rs 327, GMR Airports rose by Rs 2.05 to Rs 39.54, CG Power rose by Rs 14.65 to Rs 304.10. , Carborandum Universal increased by Rs.30.60 to Rs.970, Hindustan Aeronautics increased by Rs.75.70 to Rs.2704.20, Lakshmi Machine Works increased by Rs.186.70 to Rs.10,144.95, Polycab increased by Rs.58.20. rose to Rs.2858.85, Siemens rose by Rs.60.30 to Rs.3331.45.
Small, Mid Cap Stocks Decline Broad Valuing : Market Breadth Positive : 2109 Stocks Close Positive
On the last trading day in the cash segment of the stock markets for the financial year 2022-23 today, the Sensex, Nifty based rose again with small, mid cap, funds in cash stocks, high net worth investors reducing the market breadth from negative to positive. Out of total 3638 scrips traded in BSE, the number of gainers was 2109 and decliners were 1414.
FPI/FII's net purchase of Rs.1245 crore in cash : DII's net purchase of Rs.823 crore
Foreign Portfolio Investors-FPIs, Foreign Institutional Investors-FIIs made a net purchase of Rs.1245.39 crore worth of shares in cash segment today-Wednesday. A total of Rs.7851.57 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs.9096.96 crore. While DII-domestic institutional investors made a net purchase of Rs.822.99 crore. A total of Rs.9373.07 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs.10,196.06 crore.
