UPI Tap and Pay: UPI payments will get new feature in 2024, know in detail

New facility in the new year 2024: In the digital age, people in the country are making more online payments. Also, customers who make UPI payments will get a new facility in the coming year. According to the National Payments Corporation of India, now payment will be made by tapping the mobile on the payment machine. This new feature is called UPI Tap and Pay. In September this year, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das announced the launch of the UPI Tap and Pay facility at the Global FinTech Fest. Earlier the facility of making payment by saying Hello UPI and making payment without internet is also available.

When will this feature start?

The facility is estimated to be operational from 31 January 2024. National Payments Corporation of India has issued a notification asking companies providing online payment facility to implement this facility as soon as possible. Companies providing UPI facility can launch UPI tap and pay facility for their customers anytime as per their convenience. Now this feature has started for some customers of Google Pay, BHIM app and Paytm.

How much can be paid?

Currently, the payment limit for this facility is Rs. 500 has been kept. Entering PIN is mandatory if paying more than that. However, this limit will be increased in the near future.

Why use UPI Tap and Pen?

This feature eliminates the need to scan the QR code. People who want to use this feature have to tap QR code machine or payment machine with their mobile. So that payment can be made. For that, the mobile needs to have NFC.
