Daily necessities became more expensive by up to 40 per cent, increasing people's household budgets by five per cent
New Delhi, June 22, 2021, Tuesday
Inflation is on the rise due to a 40 per cent rise in prices of daily necessities and groceries and people's household budgets are deteriorating. The cost of each household has increased by an average of five percent.
The figure is between April and June this year. The cost of running a home has increased by five per cent this year compared to the same period last year. This is the conclusion of a report by a start-up company.
"Rising prices of fast moving consumer goods have broken the record of the last fortnight," it said. The prices of flour, sugar, pulses and items found at retail stores have risen sharply. Spice prices are also on the rise. However, there was not much difference in the prices of the packaged items.
The company has prepared its report keeping in view the prices of items at 20 lakh stores. Where everyday necessities are sold. The price of rice in the market has gone up by 8 to 10 per cent. Local brand flour prices have seen an increase of 8 to 15 per cent due to the rise in wheat prices. Edible oil prices have risen by 40 to 50 per cent in one year. Which is the highest.
Prices of sugar, coffee, soap, biscuits have remained stable but promotional schemes on these products have been withdrawn. The price of Maggi has not increased but at the same price now 60 grams of Maggi is available instead of 70. Rising oil prices have pushed up snack prices by 8 to 10 per cent. While the prices of detergent powder have gone up by five to seven per cent. Tea prices have risen by 15 to 20 per cent. Hand sanitizers alone are down 20 to 30 percent.
One of the reasons behind inflation is the denial of lockdown. As people stayed at home, their needs increased and so did the cost of groceries. On the other hand, declining incomes have also increased the demand for cheap goods. On the other hand, the supply that has come to the shopkeepers later is getting expensive. There is also a 10 to 15 per cent decline in households due to inflation.
