A great wave of religious revivalism in India

- The Conundrum of Economics - Dhawal Mehta

- It is necessary to stop spending on temples and statues and spend on education- health

There is a huge wave of religious revivalism in India, of course the fact that India's economy is moving at a growth rate of six and a half to seven percent is a matter of satisfaction. America's GDP base is huge so if America achieves 4% or 4.5% growth rate, it would be happy but India's export rate cannot reduce income and wealth disparity and other state governments like Delhi CM Kejriwal have given education and health top most. Inability to prioritize is the greatest tragedy of Indian economics. Almost every day there is news in the press that our number of primary school teachers is insufficient, teacher vacancies are not filled for a long time in primary school a single education teaches three to four or five standards simultaneously. School buildings are in a very bad condition, school children do not get affordable meals and food cooked in schools and canteens are in very unhygienic condition. Toilets in school are in nauseating condition etc. Not only the BJP government but all the previous governments have shown negligence in the matters of education and health. Whichever party is going to win the 2024 elections, instead of building glittering temples and multi-crore campuses or eye-popping statues, now the middle-aged people will just have to say that even if all the governments have not brought much improvement in our lives, yours has. Teach the children in such a good school and take such good care of you and your children (through nourishing food) that the children will insist on getting to school early.

The Government of India states that the literacy rate in our country is 77 percent. This figure seems doubtful, but even if it is true, how many degree holders or diploma holders or 12th passers are among the literate population? Of course, primary and secondary education is the responsibility of the state governments, but where the central government and the state government are from the same party, why can't they build exemplary schools like Harrow and Cambridge schools in Britain? Almost every week in the press there are photos of students sitting in dilapidated elementary school buildings and some school buildings that are about to collapse at any time. And why do those state education ministers take this reality 'taken for granted'?

America, Canada, Australia and almost all Western European countries have established welfare states. The evil neoliberalism is exploitative and has created enormous economic inequality and the number of billionaires in the world is increasing but these neoliberal states ignore the strict beliefs of neoliberalist economists in Europe and America with social security, food stamps, government hospitals, orphanages, unemployment benefits etc. that rival private hospitals. Schemes have been implemented so that no one goes starving and deprived of medical treatment. If the Government of India had not incurred a public debt of about 82 or 84 percent of GDP, it could have spent a huge amount of interest on education and health, but due to geopolitical conflicts in the world, and especially the defiance of Pakistan and China, our defense budget (which can be considered as a war budget) is ours. The country has to grow without any wrongdoing and we need not a religion-rich government but a science-rich government and society. Bring back Charvark.
