Agri trade turnover on e-NAM platform increased by 32 percent to Rs. 75,000 crores


NEW DELHI: Farmers, traders and farmer producer organizations have started using e-agri trade platform Electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM), which digitally integrates wholesale markets, on e-NAM in 2022-23 compared to the previous financial year. The turnover of the business increased by 32 percent to Rs. 74,656 crore has happened.

Seven years after the launch of the e-NAM platform, farmers and buyers are using it to trade both within and outside states. In the current financial year, the turnover on this platform is Rs. It is expected to cross 1 trillion.

In FY22, the turnover on the e-platform was Rs. 56,497 crore while in the previous financial year it was Rs. 31,366 crores was recorded in sales. Annual trade in farm goods excluding milk and marine products is Rs. More than 5 lakh crore is found.

In FY23, 18.6 million tonnes of agricultural and allied commodities were traded on the e-NAM platform, which was 41% higher than the 13.2 MT traded in the previous financial year.

The increase in e-NAM's trading volume indicates that the platform has reached the scale to make a meaningful difference in farmers' incomes with the aim of improving farmers' market access and creating an integrated national market for agricultural produce.

Last financial year, farmers from Uttar Pradesh, Kashmir, Maharashtra and Rajasthan started inter-state trade using the e-NAM platform to sell commodities like potato, apple, mustard, ragi, silk cocoon, gram, soybean and cumin.
