Four days work, three days off in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government has amended the Factory Act by passing a resolution in the Legislative Assembly that the workers will be able to work for 12 hours instead of 8 hours. The Industries Minister of Tamil Nadu has said that now workers can benefit from the concept of four days work and three days off in a week by working ten hours a day. Because of this, there will be no difference in the total working hours in a week. A similar bill has been passed by the Bommai government of Karnataka as it wanted to do a deal with the Foxconn company.
