Movement to keep five working days in banks of the country
Mumbai: Infosys founder Narayan Murthy on one hand is calling the youth of the country to work for seventeen hours a week, while on the other hand, a movement has started to increase the salary by fifteen percent in addition to the five-day week in the country's banks.
According to the information, public sector banks and private banks of the country are thinking of increasing the wages of their employees. The financial condition of the country's banks has improved drastically recently and while the banks have been making significant profits, it is known that there has been a proposal from the bank employee associations to increase the salaries of the employees.
Some banks have even started making provisions for this, as seen from their September quarter results. The Finance Ministry is also keeping an eye on the ongoing talks between the employee unions and the banks.
Keeping in mind that bank employees are a big vote bank in the country, even the government does not want to offend them. Earlier in 2020, the wage agreement was made after three years of discussion.
Meanwhile, the proposal to work five days a week in banks has already been approved by the Indian Banks Association and the approval of the Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank is awaited.
In the era of technology, it is being argued that no one will have any difficulty in doing a five-day week when the direct presence in the bank has been reduced by the bankers.
On the other hand, saying that India's productivity is one of the lowest in the world, Narayan Murthy has called upon the youth of the country to work more hours to build the country, so that we can compete globally. Banks in the country are currently closed on second-fourth Saturdays apart from Sundays.
