E-invoice mandatory in e-way bill in B2B transactions from March 1

Ahmedabad: The biggest tax reform in the country's history, GST, is still being modified by the government from time to time as per the need. Under GST Rs. From March 1, units with a turnover of more than Rs 5 crore will not be able to issue e-way bills without providing e-invoices for all business transactions.

Under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system, an e-way bill is mandatory for moving goods worth more than Rs 50,000 from one state to another.

National Informatics Center has found based on analysis that some e-way bill eligible taxpayers for e-invoicing generate e-way bill for B2B (Business to Business) and B2E (Business to Exporters) transactions without linking it to e-invoice. .In some of these cases the challan details recorded separately under e-way bill and e-challan do not match in some parameters. Due to this there is no match between e-way bill and e-challan details.

To avoid such situations, generation of e-way bills without e-challan details will not be allowed from March 1, 2024. This e-invoice is applicable for eligible taxpayers and supply related transactions under trade and export.
