There have been a total of 38 Finance Ministers in the history of independent India. There are very few finance ministers in post-independence history who have had the opportunity to present five-by-five budgets. This list includes the name of Nirmala Sitharaman. Apart from this, Manmohan Singh, Arun Jaitley, P Chidambaram and Yashwant Sinha are the only finance ministers who have presented the budget five times. Also, the name of Morarji Desai was prominent among the ministers who presented six budgets. Morarji Desai presented five full budgets and one interim budget. As soon as the budget is presented this year, Nirmala Sitharaman will come on par with Morarji Desai.

Longest budget speech

Some budget related records are also registered in the name of Nirmala Sitharaman. He holds the record of giving the longest budget speech in the year 2020 in the history of India. That year, Nirmala Sitharaman gave a budget speech lasting 2 hours and 42 minutes. In this way, he broke his own year-old record. In 2019, he gave a record budget speech of 2 hours and 7 minutes.
