India's indigenous app store INDUS launches to rival Google-Apple, app search in 12 languages
Indus App Store: 'Indus', an all-India app store launched today with voice and video search facility, with mobile app details and description of what it does in 12 languages of the country. At present, Apple's App Store on phones and Google's App Store on Android have been challenged by Walmart-owned fintech company Phone Pay.
Indus App Store will be available by December
Although this app store, which can only work on Android phones, customers have to download it directly from the company's website, but by the end of this year it will be included in the new phones of most companies, it will come pre-loaded, said Samir Nigam, the rounder of the company. "We are in talks with most of the top Android phone makers. Our Indus App Store will also be available with these companies' phones by December," it said.
Ashwini Vaishnav launched this app store
Union Minister for Railways, Communications and IT Ashwini Vaishnav launched the app store at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The minister said, "15 years ago India was a country in the world of technology which was a market for outdated technology. Now India is not behind any country in research and development of technology and companies of the world are taking India as a partner."
The Indian App Store has been in the works for over 10 years
India currently has 75 crore people connected to smart phones and is a huge market. India is different from other markets in the world in terms of language, culture and practices, secondly, if the competition increases instead of just two companies, the app developers and app publishers will also get a chance to innovate, so the work behind a fully Indian app store has been going on for 10 years.
Indus App Store is made keeping Indians in mind
While giving details on how the Indus App Store has been designed with Indians in mind at the time of launch, Sameer Nigam said, "90 percent of Indians are used to working in their mother tongue. They also search the Internet in their own language. That's why it currently has Gujarati, Hindi , has included 12 languages including Tamil, Bengali. Second, it can be registered only on the basis of mobile number. Email is mandatory in other app stores. Every Indian has a phone but no email so use his app store in someone else's name. is."
This facility will be given to new app developers
At present, about two lakh apps are available in the app store in different 45 categories. For a new app developer to join Indus, the company will not charge any fee from the developer for one year. Apart from this, 24 hours help for app development, tech module will also be provided. The company said at the launch that when it comes to app listing, the company provides the facility of listing in all 12 languages with the help of its own software, the developer does not need to translate the details for this.
