A record of 22297 in Nifty: Investors' wealth at a new high of Rs.393 lakh crore


MUMBAI: Global stock markets took a break from the rally at the end of the week after the US stock markets saw a record rally yesterday on the back of encouraging results from IT giant chip manufacturer Nvidia Corp. Despite a rally in the US stock markets, the Asian-Pacific markets today opened a record rally in the Indian stock markets against overall narrow fluctuations in other markets today amid a holiday in Japan's Tokyo stock market. The Nifty 50 spot index ended the sell-off after hitting a new record high of 22297.50 in an unbroken historic rally. Nifty fell in the range of 22297.50 to 22186.10 and finally closed down 4.75 points at 22212.70. While the Sensex reached its historic high of 73427.59 to 73413.93, it finally closed down by 15.44 points at 73142.80.

Capital Goods Index jumped by 661 points

BSE Capital Goods Index rose 661.01 points to close at 56732.11 as funds again bought aggressively in capital goods stocks today. Honeywell Automation increased by Rs.724.90 to Rs.38,250, Honeywell Automation increased by Rs.40.35 to Rs.3044.85, Rail Vikas increased by Rs.3.20 to Rs.264.75, Larsen & Toubro increased by Rs.25.75 increased to Rs.3389.80.

Attractiveness in financial stocks

Funds in financial services stocks were the preferred buys today. PTC India increased by Rs.2.19 to Rs.46.16, GIC Housing increased by Rs.11.35 to Rs.246.10, Chems increased by Rs.113.20 to Rs.3112.50, Care Ratings increased by Rs.39.70 to Rs. .1189.05, Kalyani Invest rose by Rs.135.20 to Rs.4100.

Auto stocks witnessed a mixed trend

A mixed trend was observed today in the stocks of automobile companies. Tube Investments fell by Rs.70.80 to Rs.3615.25, Sundaram by Rs.18.30 to Rs.1091.35, Maruti Suzuki by Rs.136.35 to Rs.11,539.15, Bajaj Auto by Rs.75.25 It was reduced to Rs.8430.05. While Balakrishna Industries increased by Rs.53.80 to Rs.2333.55, Cummins India increased by Rs.37.45 to Rs.2803.50, Mahindra & Mahindra increased by Rs.21.60 to Rs.1930.20, Tata Motors increased by Rs.5. 05 increased to Rs.937.15, MRF increased by Rs.626.80 to Rs.1,50,720.80.

Investors' wealth increased by Rs.87 thousand crores
