The country's export trade grew by 22.47 per cent, showing signs of improvement

Exports from the country are showing signs of improvement. Exports in the first week of November stood at 75 6.75 billion, up 22.47 per cent year-on-year. Herbs, diamonds and jewelery as well as the engineering sector have been important contributors.
A government official gave this information on Tuesday. Exports in the first week of November were 5. 5.51 billion a year ago. In November, the value added grew by 25 1.25 billion.
During November 1-7, 2020, imports grew by 13.64 per cent to 9. 9.30 billion from 8. 8.19 billion in the same period a year ago, the official said. Imports of non-petroleum goods rose 23.37 per cent.
The trade deficit stood at 5 2.55 billion. Exports of herbs, diamonds and jewelery increased by 32 per cent to 13 13.91 crore and 88.8 per cent to 33 336.07 crore during the period under review.
Similarly, exports of engineering goods rose 16.7 per cent to .5 215.1 million. Exports to the US, Hong Kong and Singapore, meanwhile, grew by 54 per cent, 176 per cent and 91 per cent, respectively.
