Mumbai: Private equity investment (PE investment) in domestic companies has decreased by 42 percent year-on-year to 23.3 billion dollars in 2022. This information has been given in an industry report. According to the report, this is the lowest PE investment since 2019. In 2019 it was 15.8 billion dollars.

According to an analyst at the London Stock Exchange Group, PE equity investment in the country fell 42 percent last year to $23.3 billion compared to 2021. This was the lowest investment since 2019's $15.8 billion.

The report did not specify how many private equity deals were done during the year. According to the data, PE investments totaled $3.61 billion in the December quarter of 2022. This was 8.1 percent lower than the previous quarter's $3.93 billion, while it was down 67.2 percent year-on-year.

According to the report, the total number of deals in the fourth quarter decreased by 24.8 percent to 333 from 443 in the previous quarter. In the fourth quarter of 2021, there was a 19 percent decrease in deals compared to 411. Geopolitical tensions, rising interest rates and fears of recession in Western economies are responsible for this.
