Indian-origin Mala Gaonkar has created history by launching SurgoCap Partners, a women-led hedge fund in the US. This is the first women-led hedge fund in the fund industry. Its assets under management are 1.8 billion dollars.

70 percent shortage of specialist doctors

The Rural Health Statistics 2021-22 report has said that there is a shortage of more than 70 per cent specialist doctors in the government hospitals of 25 states and Union Territories of the country. According to this report, 95 percent in Madhya Pradesh, 90 percent in Gujarat, 79 percent in Rajasthan, 72 percent in Uttar Pradesh, 70 percent in Bihar and 70 percent in Maharashtra are deficient in specialist doctors. While 94.21 percent seats are vacant in Kerala, 93.03 percent in Bengal and 83.83 percent in Tamil Nadu. On the other hand Mizoram, Sikkim, Diu-Daman and Pondicherry do not have a single specialist doctor.
