Pushing towards Digital India: FASTag Collection in 2022 to Rs. Crossing 50,000 crores


-FASTag collection to grow 46% to cross Rs 50,000 crore in 2022

India is now moving towards Digital India by leaps and bounds. Along with UPI, FASTag is also seen as the biggest tool of digital revolution in India and FASTag collection figures in 2022 prove its presence.

Toll collection on national and state highways by FASTEG in 2022 to Rs. 50,855 crore was touched. This figure is the highest annual figure ever and is 46 percent higher than in 2021.

According to figures released by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), electronic toll collection in the previous year was Rs. 34,778 crores.

“Not only collections but also the number of FASTag transactions has seen an average growth. There were 48 percent more transactions in 2022 than in 2021. The number of FASTag transactions in 2021 and 2022 was 219 crore and 324 crore respectively, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) said.

In 2022, the collection per month averaged Rs. 4200 crores. This digital toll system was started on highways in the year 2019. In March 2022, the monthly collection for the first time will be Rs. 4000 crore mark was crossed. About 6.4 crore FASTags have been issued and the number of FASTag-enabled fee plazas across India has increased from 922 in 2021 to 1181 in 2022, the department said in a press release.
