India's e-commerce industry on its way to becoming the second largest in the world


- Exports of e-commerce sector will reach the value of 200 to 300 billion dollars by 2030

According to a survey conducted under the title The State of Cross-Border Trade, India's cross-border trade ranks 9th. This is good news as India's total merchandise exports have been above $100 billion for two consecutive quarters. In the last quarter of 2021, this amount had reached $105.8 billion. Some interesting information about how countries around the world trade with each other has been presented in this survey.

One of the reasons for this increase in cross-border trade is that after the pandemic, many retailers started using online platforms to sell their products only in stores. This has helped them to sell their products not only in their country but to customers all over the world. Another reason is that outsiders have become more active in shopping with retailers in the country. Therefore, more people are buying products from global retailers, which has contributed to this growth.

The Indian government wants to ease the rules for doing business across borders. This is because cross-border trade is a large part of global online shopping, and it also affects how easy it is to operate businesses in India. The government is actively supporting the export sector in India, which means helping businesses sell their products to other countries. This support has helped generate a total of $417 billion in export earnings in FY2022.

In different parts of India, fifteen clusters of different sectors have seen a huge increase in goods sold to other countries. Among these regions, Gujarat has contributed the most to India's total exports, followed by Rajasthan and Delhi. This means that there is a high demand for Indian products in other countries, which is good news for cross-border trade. People from different parts of India are selling their products to customers all over the world, and this is helping the country's economy.

Small businesses known as MSMEs in India are really important to the economy of our country. They contribute a lot to our country's GDP. Due to which e-commerce in India is growing so much that we are on the way to become the second largest e-commerce industry in the world. This means that small businesses can easily sell their products to people around the world.

They contribute about 40 percent of India's total exports. It is really important because it helps to grow the economy of our country.
