Mumbai: A holiday-like situation was seen in the Mumbai oil-seeds market today. New demand was slow. 150 to 200 tonnes of imported palm oil was traded in direct delivery at Rs.850 per 10 kg. Sources in the market said that hawala resale was done sporadically under the heading of Rs.848.

In the world market, the palm oil markets were closed today in Malaysia. After the price of soybean oil fell by 93 to 144 points in the overnight trade in the agricultural markets of America, the price was projected to be in the range of 15 to 20 points plus. There were indications that crude oil prices in the world market may have rebounded after a fall and this also had an impact on the global edible oil market.

Meanwhile, at home today, the price of cotton washed in Saurashtra fell from Rs.900 to Rs.880 while the price of Saurashtra single oil was indicated to be between Rs.1650 to 1675 and 15 kg from Rs.265 to 2660 amid a slow decline.

Meanwhile, according to Singdana market sources, the market has recently witnessed a sell-off by stockists while the demand for festivals on the one hand was on the other hand. Following this, the market prices were seen collapsing between narrow fluctuations.

Today, the price of 10 kg single oil was being discussed at Rs.1690 to Rs.1700 in Badar, Mumbai. While the price of cottonseed oil was Rs.965 to 970, the price of palm oil imported from Mumbai was Rs.848 to 850. The price of crude palm oil CPO kandla was quoted at Rs.830 while the price of refined was Rs.955 at Rs.950. Sunflower prices remained calm at Rs.850 and refined at Rs.950. The price of mustard mustard was Rs.1020 and the price of refined was Rs.1050.

The spot price of Mumbai diwali rose by Rs.10 per 10 kg today. The prices of divel were being quoted at Rs.1185 to Rs.1205 while the price of castor was Rs.5775 to Rs.5825. The price of castor oil rose by Rs.40 to Rs.50 per ton in the Mumbai khol market. While the price of soybean oil was lower than Rs.800 per ton.
