India's engineering exports fell in June amid a challenging global trade environment


New Delhi: India's engineering exports continued to decline during June 2023 in major markets like America, European Union and China. EEPC India said this reflects the challenging global business environment.

The Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC) said that exports to West Asia and North Africa, North-East Asia and CIS countries witnessed positive growth during the period.

India's engineering exports fell for the third consecutive month in June 2023. It has declined by 11 percent year-on-year to $8.53 billion during this period. EEPC said the decline was due to a decline in exports to the US, European Union and China. However, engineering exports to Russia have almost tripled.

During the period under review, exports to the US fell by 12.5 percent to $1.45 billion, to the European Union by 16.2 percent to $1.51 billion and to China by 20 percent to $184 million.

During April-June in the current financial year, exports to Russia quadrupled year-on-year to $337.4 million.
