Continuous efforts are being made to promote bio fuel in the country. Now the government has decided to mix biogas in CNG and PNG.

The central government has said that blending of CNG and biogas in PNG will be mandatory. Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that it will be increased to 5 percent by 2028. This decision will benefit the economy. Also, the production and consumption of compressed biogas will also increase. This decision will be implemented in a phased manner.

1 percent mixture will be used in auto mobiles and homes

It was decided in the Natural Biofuels Coordination Committee meeting that the Central Repository Body will monitor the biogas blending system. At the same time, it will be decided that this rule should be followed in all places. This new arrangement will start from the financial year 2025-26. However, its use in automobiles and homes will begin with a one percent mixture. Then it will increase to 5 percent by 2028.

There will also be support in saving foreign exchange

The Ministry of Petroleum said that this will prove to be an important decision to increase the use of biogas. This will increase biogas production and also reduce LNG import of the country. Not only will money go to the people of the country, but the government will also get support in saving foreign currency. This is a strong initiative from the government towards the goal of net zero emissions.
