Important decisions taken in the GST Council meeting, such things became cheaper

In the 49th meeting of the GST Council, it has been decided to release the full amount of GST refund. Along with this, the Council recommended streamlining the penalty for late filing of annual GST returns. Along with this, the GST Council decided to reduce GST on liquid gourd, pencil sharpener and some tracking devices. It means that all these things will become cheaper now.

GST rate reduced on liquid jaggery

After the council meeting, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that we are reducing the GST rate on liquid jaggery from 18% to 5%. If it is open then no GST has to be paid. But if it is pre-packaged and labeled then 5% GST has to be paid on it. GST on pencil-sharpener has been reduced from 18% to 12%. Finance Minister Sitharaman said that all GST compensation amount including Rs 16982 crore for the month of June will be paid.
