India has emerged as the number one country in the milk production sector leaving behind other countries in the world. Animal Husbandry Minister Purushottam Rupala said in Parliament that India's share in total milk production in the world during 2021-22 was 24 percent. During the period 2014-15 to 2021-22, milk production in the country has increased by 51 percent. In 2021-22, 22 crore tonnes of milk was produced in the country.
