Nifty hits new record high of 22186 : Finally up 82 points to 22122

Mumbai: Sensex, Nifty based markets rose for the fifth consecutive day today amid mixed trends in global markets, led by gains in banking-finance frontline stocks along with auto, telecom, pharma heavyweight stocks. With this, Nifty made a new all-time high. Funds attracted banking-finance stocks Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank along with auto giant Maruti Suzuki as well as Bharti Airtel, Grasim as well as pharma giant Cipla, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Sun Pharma Industries and FMCG stocks ITC. At the end of making history, it increased by 81.55 points and closed at a height of 22122.25. While the Sensex reached a high of 72881.93, it finally increased by 281.52 points to close at 72708.16. Chinese markets opened marginally higher today after a long holiday. While the US markets are closed today on the occasion of President's Day.
Finance, banking stocks rise
Funds again bought aggressively in financial services, banking stocks today. In Bajaj twins stocks, Bajaj Finserv rose by Rs.36.95 to Rs.1612.50, Bajaj Finance rose by Rs.119.40 to Rs.6740.65, LIC India rose to Rs.17 on the news of income tax refund of Rs.25,464 crore. 50 up to Rs.1056.90, Paisalo Digital up by Rs.19.55 to Rs.162.50, BF Investment up by Rs.62.15 to Rs.588.05, Crisil up by Rs.390.05 to Rs.4991.90, One 97 Paytm rose by Rs.17.05 to Rs.358.55. Along with this, AU Small Bank increased by Rs.19 to Rs.600.35, ICICI Bank increased by Rs.20.80 to Rs.1043.60, State Bank increased by Rs.2.75 to Rs.757.50.
Consumer durables index rose 890 points
The BSE Consumer Durables Index rose 890.01 points to close at 51322.49 as funds bought heavily in the stocks of consumer durables companies today. Rajesh Exports rose by Rs.41.55 to Rs.345, Blue Star rose by Rs.42.60 to Rs.1280.05, Dixon Technology rose by Rs.223.95 to Rs.6603.95, Aditya Birla Fashion rose by Rs.5.80 to Rs. .236.70, Voltas increased by Rs.23.35 to Rs.1097.45, CG Consumer increased by Rs.5.60 to Rs.289.95, Havells India increased by Rs.18.65 to Rs.1417.05, Titan Company increased by Rs. 47.70 increased to Rs.3704.30.
Auto stocks advance
Funds continued to buy into auto stocks amid reports of a pick-up in vehicle sales by automobile companies along with good growth in the electric vehicle segment. Bosch increased by Rs.740.75 to Rs.29,066, Bajaj Auto increased by Rs.184.70 to Rs.8510.50, Cummins India increased by Rs.43.15 to Rs.2660.80, Maruti Suzuki increased by Rs.132.35 to Rs. .11,500, Mahindra & Mahindra rose by Rs.13.30 to Rs.1848.85.
Advances in healthcare
In Healthcare-Pharmaceuticals companies stocks today, the funds made big purchases along with multinational companies. Novartis India rose by Rs.159.90 to Rs.1195.35, Wockhardt rose by Rs.64.40 to Rs.551.50, Bliss GVS rose by Rs.9.55 to Rs.132.25, Sequent Scientific rose by Rs.13.90 to Rs. .148.50, Sun Pharma Advance rose by Rs.17.95 to Rs.377.15, Sanofi India rose by Rs.347.25 to Rs.9195, Cipla rose by Rs.30.25 to Rs.1470.45, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories rose by Rs. .103.80 up to Rs.6420, Sun Pharma Industries rose by Rs.19.40 to Rs.1529.85.
Small, mid-cap stocks bullish
Market breadth was positive with funds, sportsmen, high net worth investors buying today in many small, mid cap, cash stocks. Out of the total 4103 scrips traded in BSE, the number of gainers was 2363 and the number of decliners was 1605.
FPI sale of Rs.754 crore
Foreign Portfolio Investors - FPIs, FIIs had a net sale of Rs.754.59 crore in cash today on Monday. A total of Rs.10,922.54 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs.10,167.95 crore. While DII-domestic institutional investors had a net purchase of Rs.452.70 crore worth of shares today. A total of Rs.7628.44 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs.8081.14 crore.
Investors' wealth
Investor wealth i.e. aggregate market capitalization of BSE-listed companies rose by Rs 2.16 lakh crore to a new all-time high of Rs 391.69 lakh crore in a single day today as Sensex, Nifty based strength and small, mid cap, A group stocks rallied. .
