CAIT launched a campaign to boycott Chinese goods, listing 3,000 products
New Delhi, 16 June 2020 Tuesday
The attack on an Indian convoy in Ladakh on Monday night is being criticized across the country. The attack between the two countries has left three Indian Army personnel dead.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) is preparing a campaign to boycott Chinese goods. CAIT has launched the Indian Goods-Our Campaign, a campaign to increase the use of Chinese goods and promote Indian goods.
For this, CAIT has prepared a list of more than 500 items, which includes more than 3000 Chinese products. By boycotting all listed products, CAIT aims to reduce Chinese imports by about Rs 1 lakh crore by December 2021. At present, the business is worth Rs 5.25 lakh crore.
CAIT has selected more than 3000 items in the first phase of the campaign which are also manufactured in India, but have so far been procured from China due to cheaper prices. Some Chinese apps have also been included in the boycott campaign.
The important thing is that all Chinese products listed can also be made in India, so there is a need to promote manufacturing units in India as well.
No technology is required in the manufacture of these items. Therefore, goods manufactured in India can be used very easily instead of Chinese goods and India can reduce its dependence on China for these goods.
